Short Beach 2
Oil paint on canvas
2×3 ft.
2026
I chose to paint this image because it was taken on the same day that my reference for my painting Short Beach 1 was taken. Now two years after having completed that painting, I feel I have grown remarkably. So, I decided to explore this growth by completing Short Beach 2 as my final project of my college career. In doing so, I hope to showcase my technical growth from the beginning of my time as a painter in college, to now the end. This image is also significant in another way, since it depicts my twin sister. I have been very passionate about painting my family in this way, to somehow memorialize our pasts as I look towards the future. Painting in this way allows me to reflect on memories I am fond of, but also gives me the time to look towards the future. I find it is imperative for me to do so, especially at this moment of transitioning out of college, and facing the uncertainty that comes with this change.
